How to recruit EcoTeam members: ideas from Bristol training event

At our EcoTeam leader training event in Bristol, attendees came up with an amazing range of ideas about how to recruit EcoTeams members. 

The ideas were the output of a practical session in which attendees were invited to think about ways to recruit teams using the following headings as prompts.

  1. Local events / media
  2. Local organisations
  3. People you know
  4. People you don’t know

1. Local events / media

  • Freshers Week at Bristol/start a club
  • Bristol Fair – flyers/stand
    Free papers / local directories (personal features)
  • The Spark paper
  • Sustainable energy group
  • Small stalls in some shopping centres (free for charities)
  • Advertise in local charity shops
  • Village fetes/fairs
  • Council networks newsletter
  • Political groups “money where their work is”
  • Street parties
  • Farmers markets

  • Give talks (where you could potentially reach more people & make the message specific)
