Rubbish and shopping session hints and tips

Rubbish and shopping session hints and tips

I did the session in July and here is my feedback. There is lots of great advice on the site and links to much more. My team will not look at the site before the session (which is fine by me) so I read up all about rubbish and shopping and planned how I would facilitate the session. I also looked at the web site of the local Council so I am up to speed on what they will recycle - my team said they wanted to know more at the first session.   We did the rubbish mix'n match task in groups of 2-3. I went through the answers before everyone had finished as the task was taking quite a while and we had to move on. Another time I would not do all the statements - just a few key ones.   My team were very interested to know what could be put in the recycling bags weekly, collected by the Council on request and what could be taken to the Recycling Centre. Some people prefer to hear things spoken to them than looking up on the web.   We also talked a bit around food miles and miles travelled to create products.   I intended to do the Footprints task as it looked an excellent way to get people to think about their behaviour but we were out of time. Perhaps we will do it in the final session.   I did a short handout and summary of local Council recycling which I emailed to people on my emailing list (this included a few people who did not come to the session).   I was delighted by everyones interest and desire to recycle more.  I hope all goes well for your session too.   Christine
