Hi! I am back again telling you how my Water session went. Lots of interesting facts and practical suggestions from ecoteams provided the basis for another fascinating event. Five neighbours came along – numbers down a little because of half term. I did 7 questions of the Water mix’n’match as multiple choice with 3 possible answers for each. This was successful and people had to think about the answers (rather than know they were looking for an answer which was a % or number of tonnes). A topical prize of a pumpkin went to the winner. There then followed a discussion around the actions people can take with taps, showers etc. The chart with typical water use for a range of activities was quite an eye opener and we went through this (table 2 in the “Measuring your water use” pdf). We were able to get through the material well within the time and discuss “green things” from previous sessions eg solar panels. This contrasted with the Energy session where there was a huge amount to get through. After the session I circulated the handout I had prepared to the 16 people on my street mailing list. So hopefully my neighbours are now taking further measures to reduce water wastage. They have been doing pretty impressive things already like collecting rain water off a shed roof.
